Panasonic's answer to the FS7 and the C300 MKii, the EVA1 features a 5.7K super 35mm sensor, down sampling to 4K for internal recording. It uses the popular Canon EF mount system for lenses, meaning it can be used out of the box with a huge range of quality lenses.
The Panasonic AU-EVA1's super 35mm sensor features 14 stops of dynamic range, and down samples from 5.7K to 4K, resulting in higher quality images than equivalent sensors at native resolutions. With a small, lightweight body weighing in at only 1.2kg, and built in electronic image stabilisation, the EVA1 is a good choice for handheld filming and gimbal work.
Built in ND filters, XLR inputs and audio controls make the Panasonic EVA1 well suited to self shooting and documentary filming, while the wide range of lens options mean it can be used for everything from music videos to small dramas.
With internal recording at frames rates of up to 240 frames per second in 1080p using the camera's 4/3 crop, or 1080p120 using the full super 35mm sensor, the EVA1 opens up a range of creative options for shooting slow motion footage.
The camera's dual native ISO means switching to higher sensitivity doesn't lead to an increase in noise. Another interesting design choice is that the built in IR cut filter required by modern CMOS sensors can be toggled out of the way, allowing the sensor to pick up near infra red for basic night vision shooting.
