Despite its compact body, the camera is capable of producing images that have found their way into documentaries, broadcast television and even feature films. Its full-frame 12.1 megapixel sensor is optimised for video, delivering excellent dynamic range, impressive low-light performance and internal recording in a range of professional codecs up to 4K 120fps, making it equally comfortable shooting cinematic drama or fast-paced action.

The camera features Sony's highly versatile E-Mount, giving you access to Sony's outstanding G Master lenses with full support for Sony's industry-leading face and eye tracking autofocus. If you're looking for a different look the mount can also be easily adapted to Canon EF lenses, while PL mount adaptors make it a popular option for short films, commercials and high-end documentary productions using professional cinema glass.

For recording media, the A7S III offers excellent flexibility. It can record HD formats to standard SD cards, but to unlock its highest quality recording modes and professional codecs you'll need CFexpress Type A media. Our cameras are supplied with 2 x 80GB CFexpress Type A cards as standard, with additional cards available  to hire for longer shooting days.

Small enough to take almost anywhere yet powerful enough for professional production, the Sony Alpha A7S III continues to be one of the industry's most popular hybrid cameras. Whether you're creating online content, filming a documentary or producing a cinematic short film, it delivers an impressive combination of image quality, portability and reliability.

Although designed primarily as a video camera, the A7S III is still a capable stills camera thanks to its 12.1 megapixel full-frame sensor. For photographers shooting events, behind-the-scenes content, social media or editorial work, it delivers excellent image quality, particularly in low light, along with Sony's superb real-time Eye AF and subject tracking. The trade-off is resolution – at 12.1 megapixels it doesn't offer the detail or cropping flexibility of cameras such as the Sony A7R series or Canon R5 Mk II . If your priority is large commercial prints, heavy cropping or high-resolution landscape photography, there are better options. However, for hybrid work where you need to capture video and 'a bit of photography too',  the A7S III remains a highly capable all-round camera.
