Renowned for its low light sensitivity, Sony's A7s MKii is a compact mirrorless camera that produces beautiful stills, and impressive 4K video.

More Details

The Sony A7s mkii is a mirrorless camera with a 12.2 megapixel full frame 35mm sensor. A capable stills camera, the A7s mkii really shines when shooting video, capable of resolutions up to 4k, with slow motion up to 120fps at 1080p. Its light weight and compact size make it suitable for use on gimbals, and the price makes it a cost effective second camera, easily able to match images with bigger more professional video cameras thanks to the built in picture profiles.

The headline feature for the Sony A7s mkii is the incredible low light capabilities, the large 35mm full frame sensor and low pixel count means improved light sensitivity and reduced noise compared to similar cameras. With ISOs up to 102400, expandable to 409600, the A7s mkii is capable of producing clean images lit only by candlelight.

Other features include built in 5 axis image stabilisation, and fast intelligent autofocus.

Great camera especially for Video and Low Light shooting

Sony a7s MKii
I use the Sony A7s on the productions I work on all the time, I find it a brilliant cost effective second camera that can be easily matched the with Sony PXW-FS7's I work on a lot in the TV industry.

For the show Snackmasters I was DOP on for Channel 4 we used them mounted on Ronin-S's with Canon 11-24mm's on (your need a metabones with this as well) it gave a real stylised view to the small busy kitchens we were filming in and helped the energy of the kitchen really come across. As we was shooting with a gamma of S-log 3 in the edit they matched perfectly the viewer at home could not tell the difference.

This camera was also my first choice because of its excellent low light capabilities when The Gadget Show (Channel 5) contacted me about a night Golf shoot although not as easy to use as the Fs7 on a shoot as fast passed a Gadget ones because of its Mirrorless form factor but the low light pictures were amazing, be careful and run some tests before hand and set yourself a ISO limit, as if you go completely overboard with the ISO the picture of course does fall apart.
