As one of the first super 35mm video cameras to meet full broadcast HD spec, the Canon C300 found immediate traction in the television production world. The stunning images the C300 produces combined with its excellent usability, audio inputs and built in ND filters opened up the world of cinematic super 35mm imagery to productions that needed a real camera.
Even today the Canon C300's 12 stops of dynamic range and 4:2:2 image codec produce excellent quality images suitable for broadcast or full HD web video. Combined with the wide variety of lenses available for the Canon EF mount, the camera can produce truly cinematic results.
The built in ND filters five complete control over depth of field, allowing you to shoot wide open in full daylight and make the most of fast lenses without compromise.
The tactile audio controls combined with two professional XLR inputs capable of providing +48V of phantom power mean the camera can be used with a variety of high quality microphones. The audio dials mean an single operator can capture good audio on the fly, easily monitoring and adjusting audio levels.
The C300 has since been replaced by the C300 mkii, and soon the mkii, but remains a popular camera for TV production, and is an excellent choice for a wide range of applications from weddings to corporate videos.
