A handy adaptor for increasing the focal length of EF lenses by 40%, the Canon 1.4x EF Extender fits between the camera and the lens, and maintains autofocus, iris and lens communication, while increasing magnification.
The trade off is a slight decrease in light transmission, reducing effective aperture by one stop. However the mark three version of the EF 1.4x Extender maintains excellent image quality and sharpness over previous iterations.
The 1.4x extender is a great addition to your kit bag to reduce the number of heavy lenses you need to bring with you, particularly useful with telephoto lenses such as the Canon L-Series 70-200mm f/2.8, where it takes the effective range to 280mm, while only reducing the aperture to f3.5.
