The Canon EF Extender 2x effectively doubles the focal length of lenses, while reducing the aperture by two stops. The 2x Extender allows you to get shots you couldn't previously have, without having to haul massive lenses around.

An ideal bit of kit to have in the bag for shooting events and wildlife, the Canon EF Extender 2x, also called a doubler, increases the focal length of your lenses by 100% while maintaining communication between the lens and the camera, such as autofocus and iris control.
Using the 2x extender does reduce the effective aperture of the lens by two stops, but the mark three does an excellent job in maintaining the quality and sharpness of the image, especially compared to older versions.
The 2x extender is a great addition to your kit bag to reduce the number of heavy lenses you need to bring with you, particularly useful with telephoto lenses such as the Canon L-Series 70-200mm f/2.8, where it takes the effective range to 400mm, while reducing the aperture to f4.

Handy bit of kit
The standard telephoto lens I go shooting with is a Canon 70-200mm so this can double that (even more if using the Sony Fs7 in HD on the crop sensor), but be warned if shooting video you will need a tripod that is sturdy enough so you don't get a lot of shake and for photography a monopod would be a very wise bit of kit to have.
All in all a fantastic tool to have in your arsenal if you ever find yourself short :))))
