Building on the success of the FS7, Sony's PXW-FX9 camera features a full frame sensor capable of recording stunning 4K images. Incorporating technology from their top of the range Venice camera the FX9 is suitable for everything from drama and commercial filmmaking to television production.

A similar form factor to its predecessor, the Sony PXW-FS7, the new Sony PXW-FX9 draws as much on Sony's top of the range Venice camera as it does the FS7. Shooting 4K footage, down scaled from it's stunning 6K full frame sensor, the FX9 is capable of producing beautiful cinematic shots, while still recording at a full 4K resolution at a super 35mm centre crop.
The FX9's new Sony Zxmor R CMOS sensor boasts 15 stops of dynamic range, and incredible low light performance owing as much to its improved design as the physical size of the sensor. With dual base ISO of 800 and 4000, the PXW-FX9 produces stunning low noise images in low light situations, while still performing optimally in bright daylight. The new electronic variable ND filter gives further control over the light hitting the sensor.
With 4 channels of audio input with manual control, including two XLR inputs, the FX9 has everything you need for documentary filmmaking to produce stunning images and sound.
In terms of high frame rate shooting, at 1080p the PXW-FX9 currently supports up to 120 frames per second in HD, with plans to increase that to 180 frames at full frame in later firmware updates.
