4x4 ND filters are used with a matte box to reduce the amount of light entering the lens, to allow freedom to choose wide apertures or slower shutter speeds.

Giving finer control than built in NDs, and preserving image quality better than variable ND filters, our 4x4 inch ND filter kit gives you creative control over aperture and shutter speed. Particularly useful when you want to use fast lenses with wide apertures in brightly lit environments, ND filters reduce the amount of light entering the camera so you can achieve shallow depth of field without having to crank up the shutter speed.
Our 4x4 ND Filter kit includes a 0.3, a 0.6 and a 0.9 ND filter, reducing light transition by one, two and three stops respectively.
The flat optical glass used in our ND filters doesn't affect the image, other than reducing light transition and uniformly darkening the picture.
These filters require a matte box with a 4x4 inch filter tray to position them in front of the lens.
