Using a beamsplitter mirror in front of the lens the Eye Direct mkii reflects an image of the interviewer's face in front of the lens, making it natural for the subject to talk while maintaining natural eye contact down the lens. The effect is quite startling as the subject speaks directly to the viewer in a manner impossible to achieve simply by instructing them to look at the lens.
Particularly for hard hitting or emotional interviews the eye direct is a powerful tool for helping a subject open up to the camera and audience. The interviewers rapport with the subject is shared with the audience, allowing them to encourage and elicit responses from the subject while looking strait down the lens.
Quick and easy to set up, and adjustable to accommodate everything from DSLRs up to full sized ENG cameras, the Eye Direct really is the only way to achieve this sort of intimacy.
