Security Deposit
Personal Accounts require a deposit to be paid separately from your hire charges before dispatch, and are returned after your hire ends subject to the condition of the equipment. Requested documents must also be provided.
The deposit amount is visible in your kit box as you build your order, but must be paid separately. You will receive an email with the deposit payment information after checkout is complete.
If you have applied for a Professional Account, your deposit will still show as due until we have been able to verify your documents and set up your Business Account. Bare in mind that if we need to despatch your items before these documents are verified the deposit will still need to be paid, but once your account has been authorised your deposit will be returned and a deposit amount will not show on future bookings.
If you have a Personal Account, please pay your deposit within 7 days of your dispatch date. If you have made a booking for more than 7 days in the future we will email you a reminder when your deposit becomes due, or you can see the status of all your upcoming and past deposit in the Deposits section of your 'My Account' page.
If your deposit has not been paid by noon on the day of despatch you will not receive the items, and the rental fee may not be refunded.
All requested documents must also be provided prior to despatch.
If returned items have damage or missing components, then the repair or replacement parts cost will be subtracted from the deposit return. Any costs above the deposit held will need to be paid immediately.
If you choose to pay a Damage Waiver then the Deposit amount paid will be the maximum amount charged, providing the damage was not caused by misuse or negligence.
Damage Waiver
Personal Accounts may also opt to pay an optional Damage Waiver.
Our optional Damage Waiver is a non-refundable fee charged separately from your security deposit.
If you do not select the Damage Waiver, you remain liable for the full cost of any damage incurred during the hire. If the cost of repairs or replacement exceeds the deposit held, you will be invoiced for the additional amount.
If you select the Damage Waiver, the amount of the deposit becomes the maximum amount you can be charged for accidental damage. The Damage Waiver does not cover loss, theft, deliberate damage or damage caused by misuse or negligence. These remain the customer's responsibility regardless of whether a Damage Waiver has been selected.
A damage waiver is only available when the kit basket replacement value is under £3,000. For baskets of higher value we require you to have insurance to cover loss or damage to the equipment.
Insurance
When your equipment value is over £3000, you will be required to provide proof of insurance which covers loss or damage to all equipment.
This is specific to the equipment, and is not encompassed in policies covering Public or Products Liability.
We can direct you to companies where you can obtain temporary cover if required. The policy must include the day you receive the equipment, and the day it is collected. Feel free to contact us if you needed any help or advice, but we cannot sell insurance to you directly.
Professional Accounts are expected to provide this as part of the Account Documentation . Our team are happy to check your policy schedule to ensure you are covered, or you can contact your insurance provider to check or add on to your existing policy.
If your company does not have existing cover for technical equipment then we won't insist on insurance unless the equipement value exceeds £3,000. This means you can self-insure smaller items without going through the process of organising insurance. However we strongly recommend an annual policy to cover ongoing needs, you can also take ad hoc short-term policies when required. If your equipment value is over £3,000 our team will contact you each time to request a copy of the new policy schedule.
