19” Production Monitor

The main advantage of the Sumo is its large, high-quality 19” display. It gives directors and other crew a much clearer view of the image than smaller monitors, making it useful when the monitor needs to be positioned away from the camera or shared by several people. Hair and makeup can also use it to check fine details, while DOPs and camera teams can assess focus, exposure and framing without having to crowd around a small screen. Despite its size, it is designed for production use and can be mounted on a standard spigot for use on a stand or Low Boy, or placed directly on a tabletop using its built-in feet.

4K Recorder

As well as being a monitor, the Sumo is a professional recorder capable of recording up to 4K resolution, making it useful for capturing high-quality camera feeds as a master or monitoring recording. It supports Apple ProRes and Avid DNxHR recording formats, with resolutions including HD, 2K and 4K depending on the incoming signal and recording format. Recording to SSD drives gives a reliable, robust recording medium that is well suited to professional production, with the drives also being quick and straightforward to offload after a shoot.

Split Screen & Multi-Camera Monitoring

The Sumo also has useful split-screen functionality, allowing multiple video sources to be displayed at the same time. This can be particularly useful for multi-camera productions, interviews or live events where the director or production team needs to compare different camera feeds. It can also be used to display different views or feeds side-by-side, making it easier to monitor a production without requiring multiple separate monitors.

Power & Mounting

The Sumo can be powered from mains electricity or from V-Mount batteries, making it practical both in a studio and on location. For portable productions, V-Mount power allows the monitor to be used without a mains supply, while on a stage or studio it can simply be powered from the mains. The flexible mounting options also make it easy to position where it is most useful, whether sitting on a table, mounted to a stand or positioned on a Low Boy.
