Unusually fast for such a super wide angle lens, Canon's 14mm f/2.8L features the excellent build quality and fast USM focus motor system found on the rest of the L-Series range. The fast aperture means the 14mm can be used in low light situations, while its sharpness across the image and rectilinear design mean it is capable of creating stunning landscape and architectural images.
What it lacks in shallow depth of field, the 14mm makes up for in its ability to separate foreground and background with its extreme angle of view. On full frame sensors the 14mm boasts a diagonal field of view of 114mm, considerably wider than the human eye, giving a unique perspective on the world. On APS-C and super 35mm sensors the 14mm is more like a 21mm lens with a field of view of 90 degrees, still giving an impressively wide view on the world.
